Description du poste :

The Associated Press is an independent global news organization dedicated to factual reporting. Founded in 1846, AP today remains the most trusted source of fast, accurate, unbiased news in all formats and the essential provider of the technology and services vital to the news business. More than half the world’s population sees AP journalism every day.

The Associated Press seeks a talented and ambitious journalist to work in Paris as a temporary reporter for up to five months. In this role, you will help cover news events in the region, including field assignments and desk shifts.

This is a full-time position where you will join newsgathering and production colleagues to create and craft our daily all-formats news report. We are seeking strong storytellers who demonstrate solid news judgment and teamwork skills, and aggressively file breaking news.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the news director for Western Europe, you will cover breaking news, spot news and enterprise, working closely with other departments and formats to pursue distinctive stories about politics, socio-economic subjects, diplomacy and more. You will also work with AP’s digital and social media team to produce content for our platforms.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Will

demonstrate impeccable news judgment, a commitment to accuracy and competitive drive to push AP and its journalists to deliver exclusive stories and swift coverage of breaking news.
produce compelling journalism that is diverse, inclusive and innovative, while maintaining AP’s standards for integrity and objectivity.
work collaboratively and successfully with a team of journalists who operate in all formats – text, photo, video, audio, digital/social, interactive and graphics – communicating stories that people will want to share on social media and other platforms.
leverage a broad and deep understanding of current issues in France and Europe, with the ability to translate that knowledge into compelling and distinctive stories.

Preferred Qualifications: You should be creative, innovative and agile. Skills in more than one format (text, photo, video, audio and data) are a plus. Strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills are a must, as is a deep interest in the news and current affairs.

We are seeking candidates who have experience in a deadline-driven, dynamic and competitive newsroom and field environment. You must be a self-starter with the ability to collaborate effectively and inclusively on teams. As an AP journalist, you must be able and willing to work at night and on weekends as coverage demands.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, such as three years of full-time news experience as a reporter at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk.
All applicants must be able to work in France through the end of 2024 or be able to gain permission to do so.
Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English and French. Professional competency in an additional language is a plus.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects across formats and work effectively as a member of a team.

We will consider strong candidates who do not meet every listed qualification. You may use a cover letter to describe the unique qualifications you would bring to this role.

Application deadline: July 21, 2024 at 11:59 pm EST.

AP seeks to build an inclusive organization grounded in respect for differences. We support all aspects of diversity and provide equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, marital status, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or status as a veteran. We encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply.
